MMRI/MMS Memberships/Affiliations and Data Privacy

MMRI/MMS are members of EphMRA (European Pharmaceutical Market Research Association), ESOMAR (European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research), PBIRG (Pharmaceutical Business Intelligence and Research Group) and PMRG (Pharmaceutical Marketing Research Group) and strictly abide by the rules of the ESOMAR International code of practice, the BHBIA (British Healthcare Business Intelligence Association) guidelines and CASRO (Council of American Survey Research Organization) guidelines. We are registered as a market research agency with the Government Office of the Information Commissioner in the UK and fully comply with both the EU Directive on the processing of personal data, the UK Data Protection Act and the US Safe Harbor Initiative.

In all our processes MMRI/MMS follow the data protection principles laid down by the EU Directive and Safe Harbor which impose an obligation to:

  • Collect data only for specified explicit and legitimate purposes
  • Hold data only if it is relevant in relation to the purpose for which it is collected, accurate and up to date
  • Ensure that all data is processed fairly and lawfully

MMRI/MMS acknowledge that the person whose data is 'processed' or stored has a number of rights including:

  • A right of information, with regard to the purpose of collecting or processing data
  • A right of rectification of inaccurate data

MMRI/MMS also work to ensure the secure movement of personal data by providing a high level of protection for the privacy of individuals and also establish safeguards to personal data transferred outside the EU and US.

In all our work MMRI/MMS apply the following principles:

Transparency - ensuring individuals have a very clear and unambiguous understanding of the purpose(s) for collecting the data and how they will be used.

Consent - at the time that the data are collected, individuals must give their consent to their data being collected, and also at this time, have the opportunity to opt out of any subsequent uses of the data.
